In 2004, Josh began working with the youth at Palm Beach Lakes church of Christ in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. In 2009, Josh, Cara, and their children Josiah and Vivian moved to Asuncion, Paraguay to work with the Sacramento Avenue church of Christ. During that time Josh also established a congregation on Easter Island and has been making regular trips since 2010.

In 2014, they returned to Palm Beach Lakes church of Christ. Josh developed and worked with the Family/Youth Program. Cara worked as an elementary school counselor for Palm Beach County Schools until May 2023, when she accepted a full-time position as the Assistant Director of Missionary Care for Great Cities Missions. Josiah and Vivian are currently students at Freed-Hardeman University.

In May 2023, they sold their home and moved into an RV. They travel the country full time working with congregations of the Lord’s church.

What is Answering Macedonian Calls?

As Paul was sent out from the Antioch congregation we are being sent out by the eldership at Palm Beach Lakes church of Christ . We seek to answer the Macedonian call for help as Paul did in Acts 16:6-10. We partner with isolated congregations and work with them for several months at a time as a located evangelist would.

Dan Jenkins travels to congregations to preach gospel meetings and deliver workshops and seminars. You can see more information about his work here.

The aim of this work is to be a resource to congregations in the areas of evangelism, edification, and equipping of the saints. This can be done through:

  • Gospel meetings

  • Follow-up Bible studies

  • Seminars/workshops

  • Preaching & teaching

  • Long range planning

  • Reaching out to the wayward members

  • Ministerial help to prevent burnout

  • Connecting with church resources

  • Reaching out to the community

  • Fostering congregational relationships

  • Extended stay (2-3 months)

  • Counseling (Cara is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor)

  • Bringing mission teams to the congregations we are working with.

Answering Macedonian Calls

How much does it cost?

We are supported by the Palm Beach Lakes church of Christ and other supporters. For that reason, there is no charge for us to work with a congregation. We live in an RV full-time so that we can travel from congregation to congregation and stay as long as needed for the work. When possible, we ask for the hosting congregation to offset the cost of a parking location for the RV.
